The Vaclav Havel Library in Prague promotes the literary and ideological legacy of Vaclav Havel, the first Czechoslovak post-velvet revolution president, and an author, playwright, prominent thinker and defender of human rights. The Vaclav Havel Library is a venue very much alive with vitality, hosting scholarly and informal meetings and accommodating all people. Its modern documentation centre studies the recent history of the Czech Republic as well as the people, events and phenomena associated with Vaclav Havel’s legacy. Publishing and archiving activities also feature prominently among the institution’s activities.
