The Vaclav Havel Library in Prague promotes the literary and ideological legacy of Vaclav Havel, the first Czechoslovak post-velvet revolution president. Havel was an author, playwright, famous thinker and defender of human rights. The Vaclav Havel Library brims with vitality, hosting scholarly and informal meetings and accommodating all people. Its modern documentation center studies the recent history of the Czech Republic, its people, events and phenomena associated with Vaclav Havel’s legacy. Publishing and archiving activities also feature prominently among the institution’s activities.
