The Bakala Foundation, in co-operation with the London’s Design Museum and the Kaplicky Centre Foundation, kicked off the 5th annual Kaplicky Internship competition for talented young architects. The winner will receive a three-month internship at the renowned Heatherwick Studio in London.
Co-founder Zdenek Bakala expressed it best, saying: “I believe education is the best investment. The internship of young Czech architects at prestigious studios in London allows them to gain valuable work experience directly from the experts. Like Jan Kaplicky, who has left a unique footprint in the world of architecture by his work. One-day remarkable personalities will emerge from among our interns with the potential to become leaders in their field and make a valuable contribution to the Czech and global architecture. ”
A panel of experts will announce this year’s winner in October, broadening the group of such talent. Previous internships included studios such as Eva Jiricna Architects, Zaha Hadid Architects, Allies and Morrison, and most recently Adjaye Associates.
Young Czech talent Petr Kousal was even surprised by the offer of a permanent position following his internship at Adjaye Associates. See how Petr comments on the benefits of his London internship in the video below.
