Applications for this year’s scholarships are available on the Foundation’s website www.bakalafoundation.org until April 20th2020. All students 33 years of age and under, from the Czech Republic, wishing to pursue a Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree at foreign universities, are encouraged to apply. In addition to completing the application, applicants will prepare an English-language essay on one of the three topics set out. Part of the selection process will include a round of personal interviews that will take place in Prague, September 2020. In addition to excellent grades, enthusiasm for their chosen field, and interest in the world will also be important criteria.

“I firmly believe that even during this challenging period, with the coronavirus pandemic sweeping the world, they will be able to take advantage of the great opportunity offered by the Bakala Foundation Scholarship program.  I look forward to seeing the talented young students that will join our family of scholarship alumni this fall. We look for individuals that will enrich the world with their achievements, not only in the course of their studies but also in their dream professions.” – Magdalena Drsova, Director of Non-Profit Activities of the Bakala family.

The Bakala Foundation supports its scholars throughout their studies. As part of last year’s jubilee, it received a total of 235 applications, 17 of which the panel granted scholarships. Although interest in European universities, especially British universities, has been growing in recent years, scholarship students also express interest in universities in the United States. Thanks to the support of the Bakala Foundation Scholarship Program, students gained the chance to enrich the spheres of physics, biology, economics, political science and the arts.
